Lacie earned her Master’s Degree in Veterinary Medical Sciences from the University of Florida with a concentration in Shelter Medicine. She has spent the past 10+ years in various positions within the animal welfare community.

She began her career through her work in emergency management. She spent over 5 years as the lead emergency manager for all thing’s animals, including ensuring the county had plans in place for pet friendly sheltering. Through her work in emergency management, she had the opportunity to volunteer with the ASPCA on the second largest dog fighting bust in history. Through that work, Lacie immersed herself into learning more about how to make a true career in animal welfare.

Perseverance has its rewards and she was hired onto the ASPCA Field Investigations and Response Team in 2015. Lacie spent several years as the Disaster Response Manager and then transitioned into Shelter Manager and then as Manager for the technical rescue teams. Throughout her tenure she had the opportunity to work alongside and learn from industry leaders in veterinary medicine, sheltering and behavior.

Lacie also holds a Bachelors of Science in Sociology with a minor in Community Health, a Master’s in Public Administration as well as a post graduate certificate in Public Policy Analysis from Old Dominion University.

In her free time, Lacie enjoys spending time with her husband and couch time with her two rescue dogs.
